Our mentoring programme has commenced in 2021 under the auspices of the METU Alumni Association Istanbul Branch (ODTÜMİST). Their long-lasting experience has enabled us to develop our own learning partnership with the dearest METU alumni residing in the UK.

Mentorluk programımız, İstanbul ODTÜ Mezunlar Derneği (ODTÜMİST)’in yürütücülüğünde 2021 yılı itibarıyla hayata geçti. ODTÜMİST’in uzun yıllara dayanan deneyimi sayesinde bizler de Birleşik Krallık’ta yerleşik mezunlarımız için bu öğrenme ortaklığını geliştirdik.
We welcomed our very first cohort with 6 match-ups. With the help of constructive feedback and suggestions provided by our mentors and mentees, we keep improving our programme. Their feedback helps us review, revise, and re-develop our knowledge and materials. Hence, we aspire to move forward with more matches in the upcoming years with a better-equipped and better-sourced programme. The only criterion to make you a part of this programme is you – as a member of METU-UK – being located in the UK. İlk yılımıza 6 eşleşme ile merhaba dedik. Gerek mentilerimiz gerekse mentorlarımızdan olumlu değerlendirmeler ve sonraki yıllar için öneriler ekseninde programımızı geliştirerek ilerliyoruz. Bu dönütler ışığında önümüzdeki yıllar için daha güncel bilgi ve kaynaklarla, daha fazla sayıda eşleşme yapabilme hayali kuruyoruz. Tek kriterimiz Derneğimize üye olan ve BK’da yerleşik durumda bulunan bir mezunumuz olmanız. Bize üye olmak isterseniz lütfen bu sitedeki ilgili sayfayı ziyaret ediniz.
Content / Program İçeriği
This programme operates with the help of Programme Coordinators and Group Coordinators and has 3 phases: Preparation and Call, Execution, and Evaluation. In the Preparation and Call phase, the content of the programme with its training materials is designed, reviewed, and finalised. Call for mentors and mentees follows this preparation. Later, mentors and mentees identified are provided with necessary training and match-ups start. During the Execution phase, mentor-mentee sessions take place and are supported with on-going trainings and/or educative seminars. Sessions are required to be completed between November and May every year and to be 10 in total for a successful completion. During the execution and after the completion of the programme in a given year, programme evaluation survey is conducted and feedback is taken from mentors and mentees as to how the programme can be improved. An opening and a closing meeting are also organised and the programme is reviewed, revised, and re-designed accordingly, with the diligent work of the executive team for next year.

Program Koordinatörleri ve Grup Koordinatörlerinin katkılarıyla yürütülen programımız genel anlamda 3 aşamadan oluşuyor: Hazırlık ve Çağrı, Programın Yürütümü ve Değerlendirme. Hazırlık aşamasında programın içeriği ve materyalleri geliştirilir, güncellenir ve programa dair tüm detaylar belirlenir. Daha sonra mentor-menti çağrısına çıkılır. Başvuruda bulunan mentor ve mentilere gerekli eğitimler verilir. Ardından eşleşme süreci gerçekleşir. Program yürütülürken mentor ve mentilere yönelik çeşitli eğitsel seminerler verilir ve Kasım-Mayıs ayları arasında planlanan toplamda 10 görüşme gerçekleştirilir. Süreç içerisinde ve sonucunda değerlendirme anket formları ile programın iyileştirilmesi için çalışmalar yürütülür. Açılış ve kapanış toplantılarına da yer verdiğimiz program öncesi ve sonrasında Yürütme Kurulu ile tüm hazırlıklar özenle ele alınır, gözden geçirilir ve programı daha iyiye taşımak üzere tüm çalışmalar büyük bir özenle yürütülür.

Our mentoring programme is one of the 4 programmes run by ODTÜMİST, in which mentors are METU alumni with the experience of living and/or working in the UK. It also involves a bespoke handbook that is particularly produced for our mentees with the invaluable efforts of Mrs. Hande Karabatak-Binns – Social Psychologist and Executive Coach. Should you be a mentor or a mentee, please follow our calls that are circulated via our Google emailing between September and October each year.

ODTÜMİST’in yürüttüğü 4 programdan biri olan programımızın mentorları BK’da iş ve yaşam deneyimi olan mezunlarımızdır. Programımız ayrıca, görüşmelerde kullanılmak üzere mentilerimize özel olarak, Sosyal Psikolog ve Yönetici Koçu Sn. Hande Karabatak-Binns‘in değerli katkılarıyla hazırlanmış olan bir el kitabı içerir. Sizler de mentorluk programımızın bir parçası olmak isterseniz her sene Eylül-Ekim ayları arasında yaptığımız duyuruları takip edebilirsiniz.
Participation to mentoring programmes are free of charge. We invite our mentor alumni to support the programmes with donations to ODTÜMİST Mentoring Fund.
