WHAT IS PERSONAL DATA
Personal data is any information that tells us something about you. This could include information such as your name, contact details, date of birth.
1. HOW DO WE COLLECT PERSONAL DATA
We collect personal data about you from you when you contact us directly to fill in the application form to be a member of METU-UK.
2. WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?
• Personal contact details such as name, surname, personal email addresses, phone number,
• Academic department and programme of study
• Years of study and graduation dates
3. HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
• To provide you with direct communications about what we are doing and/or campaigns.
• For administration purposes e.g. we may contact you about a donation you have made or event you have expressed an interest in or registered for
• Keep a record of your communications with us
• Volunteer management
• Take and use photos and/or films of event participants and attendees 4. WHAT IS THE LEGAL BASIS THAT PERMITS US TO USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
Under data protection legislation we are only permitted to use your personal data if we have a legal basis for doing so as set out in the data protection legislation. We may process your personal data where it is within our legitimate interests to do so to enable us to deliver our membership and effectively fundraise, administer and further the fundraising ambitions of METU-UK .

5. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE THE PERSONAL DATA THAT WE REQUEST?
We need some of your personal data in order to accept you as a member to METU UK. If you do not provide such personal data, we may not be able to accept your membership application.

We share your personal data in the following ways:
• We may share your personal data with third parties where we are required to do so by law
7. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA SECURE?
Your personal information is stored on our database which is password protected and access is limited to METU-UK’s board members ?
8. HOW LONG WILL WE HOLD YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION ?
METU UK considers its relationship with the members to be life-long.
9. YOUR RIGHTS IN RELATION TO YOUR PERSONAL DATA
You have a number of rights in relation to your personal data, these include the right to:
a) Be informed about how we use your personal data
b) Obtain access to your personal data that we hold
c) Request that your personal data is corrected if you believe it is incorrect, incomplete or inaccurate;
d) Request that we erase your personal data
